Andres Gonzalez

Andres Gonzalez is an educator, photographer and visual artist based in Vallejo, California. His photographic practice engages the poetics of photography, with a focus on interacting with places and people that often remain overlooked. He is a graduate of Pomona College and received his MA in Visual Communications in 2004 from Ohio University. Gonzales is a Fulbright Fellow and was the recipient of a New York Photo Award, Canon Italia Young Photographer’s Award, Aperture West Book Prize and was selected as one of PDN’s 30. Andres Gonzalez’s work has also been recognized by the Magenta Foundation, The Alexia Foundation for World Peace, and Canon Italia which awarded him with the Canon Young Photographer’s Prize in 2009. His work has been exhibited at the Troche Inny Festiwal Fotografii, New Directions in the Photobook, New York Photo Awards Shortlist, Dumbo Brooklyn, Margate Photography Festival, Sunny Side Up Group Exhibition, Grazia Neri Gallery., Salt Gallery, FuturePast, Photographs from Salt Alums, Humble Arts Foundation Group Show #28. His first book Some(W)Here was self-published in 2012.
