Brothel is a 130-page, cloth-bound book that includes fifty-four tritone photographic reproductions. The book comes housed in a special handmade clamshell box, which is covered with red silk from India. The photographs were created in Calcutta’s red light district. This is the photographic series that led to Briski’s Academy Award-winning documentary Born into Brothels, which features her work with the children of prostitutes. Please note: Only the book in the Collector's Edition with print ($1,200) is signed by the artist.

Artist Bio
Briski has spent the past eight years in Calcutta, photographing the women of brothels and teaching their children photography. She founded Kids With Cameras, a non-profit organization that teaches marginalized children photography as a way to change their lives. Briski has received numerous awards, including a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, a Dorthea Lange-Paul Taylor Prize, a W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography, a Lucie Humanitarian Award, and first prize in the daily life stories category from the World Press Photo Foundation, among many others. Her documentary, Born into Brothels, has won numerous awards, including an Emmy and an Academy Award. Her work can be seen at www.zanabriski.com.
