Artist-in-Residence: Tone Stockenstr–m

Light Work is pleased to introduce our new Artist-in-Residence Tone Stockenstr–m. Tone recently returned from a trip to Sweden, bringing with her over one hundred rolls of film with new images plus another sixty rolls of negatives with old family snapshots. She is using her one-month residency to work on her new project themed around family. Since her arrival at Light Work she has been plowing through her arsenal of negatives and is printing in both black-and-white and color. She also plans to experiment with digital large-format prints.

Since 1976, nearly 300 artists have participated in our Artist-in-Residence program. Every year, Light Work invites between twelve and fifteen artists to work in our state-of-the-art darkrooms. Light Work provides the artists with an apartment, a $2,000 stipend, ample work space, and generous staff support. Many former Artists-in-Residence return to Light Work regularly to use our Community Darkrooms.
