Mark Robbins: Households
October 6-November 6, 2006
Lecture and Book Signing: Friday, October 6,
5-8pm
Light Work invites you to a lecture and book
signing celebrating a recently published book,
Households, by Mark Robbins. The book
consists
of a series of portraits of people and their homes,
presenting a contemporary visual commentary on the
intersection between the built environment and cultural
practices. Robbins' subjects are photographed in their
houses and gardens, and the images create film-strip
narratives about people, architecture, and
lifestyle.
An accompanying exhibition on the Community
Darkrooms exhibition wall at Light Work also features
recent work by Robbins. This event will take place on
October 6 from 5-8pm, with the lecture beginning
at 6pm in Watson Theater.
Robbins is the dean of the Syracuse University School
of Architecture. His work bridges the fields of art and
architecture, including photography, installations, and
site-specific pieces.
