Light Work Gallery Reception TONIGHT 5 - 7pm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a reminder to visit Light Work tonight, Thursday, January 29, from 5-7pm, for a gallery reception to celebrate our current exhibitions. On view at this time are Prosthesis, featuring photographs and sculptures by Ellen Garvens; and the Transmedia Photography Annual, featuring photographs by students in Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts.
In Prosthesis, Ellen Garvens' photographs and sculptures intersect and magnify each other as they reference the ever-present, formidable, and magnificent fragility of the human body. This exhibition unites photographs from Garvens' Ambivalence series with photo-based sculptures from her Constructions series.
Also on view at this time is the Transmedia Photography Annual, featuring the work of students in Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts. Artists include Heidi Bungart, Anastasia Collins, Abraham Godfrey, Lizzie Gorfaine, Katherine Huysman, Alex Johnson, Christine Reed Kelley, Jaclyn Lefkowitz, Jessica Magallanes Martinez, Greg Pasternack, and Aaron Siegel.
While you're here, you can sign up for a workshop at Community Darkrooms, begin or renew your subscription to Contact Sheet, and pick up an application for the 35th Annual Light Work Grants in Photography. Or, just click on the links below.
Tonight's gallery reception is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
