THE PRINTS
We are thrilled to present you with an exceptionally exciting selection
of prints this year. It is the generosity of each artist that makes it
possible for Light Work to offer these original photographs to our
subscribers at exceptionally low prices.
Elijah Gowin - Master Print Edition, $450 each
Cup, 2002 (image on right) Pigmented inkjet print, 12 x 12"
Maggie and Orbs, 2001 (image above) Pigmented inkjet print, 12 x 15"
This year's Master Print Editions category features two prints by
Elijah Gowin. The images Cup and Maggie and Orbs are part of Gowin's series Hymnal of Dreams
(1994-2004), in which his beloved aunt Margaret Cooper is featured
prominently in dreamlike and whimsically constructed scenes. Gowin uses
photography to speak about ritual, landscape, and memory. Only twenty-five prints are available for each image. The prints are
shipped in 20 x 16" mats ready for framing or for archival storage. Both images
were included in the recently
published book Maggie, available through Light Work's 2010 Book Collectors Offer.

Doug DuBois - Fine Print Program, $275
My mother in the backyard, Oldwick, NJ, 2000 Pigmented inkjet print, 12 x 9.5"
Doug
DuBois has photographed his family for over twenty-five years,
following the seasons of happy and sorrowful moments. His work examines
the complexities of family life within the fragility of daily emotions.
The edition is limited to 50 individually numbered prints, matted in 18
x 14" mats, and ready for framing or archival storage. Aperture
recently published his book ...all the days and nights
featuring this and sixty-one other images in the series. The book is
available through Light Work's 2010 Book Collectors Offer.

Suzanne Opton - Fine Print Program, $275
Soldier Conklin: 272 days in Iraq, 2006
Pigmented inkjet print, 8 x 10"
Suzanne Opton's series Soldier
examines the humanity of
soldiers who have fought in Iraq or Afghanistan. Describing the
intentions of her work, she says, "We all experience strategic
moments when we feel most alive. These are the moments we will always
remember, be they transcendent or horrific. After all, what are we if
not our collection of memories? In making these portraits of soldiers,
I simply wanted to look in the face of someone who'd seen something
unforgettable." The edition is limited to 50 individually numbered
prints, matted in 14 x 18" mats, and ready for framing or archival
storage.

Stanley Greenberg - Fine Print Program, $275
Untitled, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 2002
Pigmented inkjet print, 10 x 8"
Stanley Greenberg's photographs of architectural sites contemplate form
and content in the context of contemporary urban
existence. He describes his approach as follows: "I look at
photographs for the information they contain. I know that their record
is not necessarily a mandate for truth, but I want them to tell me what
they can beyond the act of the creation of the image and the production
of the resulting prints. It's an old fashioned way of looking, for
what has happened in the visual arts generally has also happened
specifically in photography, style and attitude have supplanted the
photographers' first call to record and document the world before
them." The edition is limited to 50 individually numbered prints,
matted in 18 x 14" mats, and ready for framing or archival storage.

A limited number of prints from previous subscription programs remain available at low prices starting at $275, including the Eatonville Portfolio,
a boxed set of images by Dawoud Bey, Lonnie Graham, Carrie Mae Weems,
and Deborah Willis for $1,200. To view our full selection, please visit
our website.
