The upcoming exhibition,
Artist Work: CEPA Gallery at
Thirty, at -Light Work
celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of the Center
for Exploratory and Perceptual Arts (CEPA Gallery).
CEPA is an artist-run, non-profit art center located
in Buffalo, New York. It has established itself as
a national leader in supporting and showcasing new
work by important emerging artists, while also serving
as a research and educational center. With this exhibition,
Light Work pays homage to the CEPA’s important
contributions as made possible by the leadership
of its directors.
Every director at CEPA has been a working artist. Beginning
with founding director Robert Muffole tto in 1973 to
the current director Lawrence Brose, each artist has
had to balance the demands of leading a national arts
organization and making time for the creation of their
own artwork. The exhibition at Light Work features
art by eleven former and current directors. The accompanying
exhibition catalogue includes artwork from the exhibition,
interviews with the directors, and a detailed timeline.
This exhibition will run at Light Work from March
21 to May 10, and then move to CEPA Gallery where
it will be on view from July 9 to August 26.
CEPA will host a gallery reception on July 9
from 7 to 10 pm. This exhibition and catalogue
have been generously supported by M&T Bank.
The gallery hours for this exhibition while it
is at Light Work will be Monday-Friday, 12pm–6pm,
and by appointment. To schedule an appointment,
please call 315-443-1300. A reception will be
held on Thursday, April 7, 2005, from 6 to 8
pm. The exhibition and reception are free and

of free parking spaces available, please RSVP
