Other Stories/Historias Bravas
According to my research, the act of remembering is an unstable and profoundly unreliable process. The more we "remember" an event, the more we are likely to change it with time. Since 2008, I have been working on Other Stories/Historias Bravas, a project where I revisit events from my youth that were never recorded. In this project, I have re-staged scenarios taken from my memory, and with the collaboration of my immediate family I recreate these events.

ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM

Every year Light Work invites between twelve and fifteen artists to come to Syracuse to devote one month to creative projects. Over 350 artists have participated in Light Work's Artist-in-Residence Program, and many of them have gone on to achieve international acclaim.

The 2012 line-up of Artists-in-Residence includes: Karen Miranda-Rivadeneira, Justyna Badach, Claire Beckett, Michael Bühler-Rose, Nate Larson & Marni Shindelman, Irina Rozovsky, Heidi Kumao, Sam Falls, and John Chervinsky. We are still looking for a few artists for 2012 and will then immediately start scheduling for 2013.

The residency includes a $4,000 stipend, a furnished artist apartment, 24-hour access to our state-of-the-art facilities, and generous staff support. Work by each Artist-in-Residence is published in a special edition of Contact Sheet: The Light Work Annual along with an essay commissioned by Light Work. Work by former Artists-in-Residence is also part of the Light Work Collection.

Applications to the AIR program are accepted throughout the year. Please see the How to Apply section for details on our facility and the application instructions.
