Since 2012, Light Work’s Urban Video Project has invited media artists to create a new piece for exhibition at our architectural projection site on the Everson Museum of Art.


Since 2023, we have opened a Call for Proposals and expanded the commission into two programs, the UVP Regional Commission and the UVP Residential Commission.

UVP REGIONAL COMMISSION

The UVP Regional Commission is a non-residential opportunity for artists in Central New York** to make new video/electronic work for public exhibition at our projection site on the facade of the Everson Museum of Art.

The regional commission will be exhibited at UVP during the summer (June-August).

Commission fee: $3,500

Resources: complimentary Light Work membership and 24 hour access to lab facilities; other resources and in-kind services identified on a case-by-case basis

**Eligible counties: Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, St. Lawrence, Tioga, Tompkins.

UVP RESIDENTIAL COMMISSION 

The UVP Residential Commission is an opportunity for media artists to come to Syracuse and make new video/electronic work for public exhibition at our projection site on the facade of the Everson Museum of Art.

Residential Commission artists are in-residence for one month. 

Commissioned work will be exhibited during the program year following the period of residency.

Commission fee: $10,000

Resources: accommodation in the Light Work AIR apartment; complimentary Light Work membership and 24 hour access to lab facilities; other resources and in-kind services identified on a case-by-case basis
