Light Work has the greatest pleasure in announcing Koz as our new Lab Coordinator. She began on October 23rd, 2023. Koz joins Light Work from Carrie Mae Weems Studio where she served as a studio assistant for nearly three years. She is also currently the Lead Designer and Gallery Assistant at the gallery at the Gear Factory, a restored 20th century industrial building that houses artists, musicians and creatives alike. Koz will help manage the service lab at Light Work and assist in running the community DIY lab.

Koz was born in Syracuse, NY and has resided here her entire life. Koz received her BFA from Alfred University with a concentration in photography in 2020. She has exhibited her work locally, most recently with her first solo exhibition at the Stay Fresh Gallery in Syracuse.

Koz is not a new face at Light Work. She was an intern in 2019 and assisted the States of Change Print Sale in 2020. Koz was also the recipient of the 2023 Light Work local artist grant.

Koz states, “I’ve always felt very connected to my time at Light Work and to have the opportunity to return is like a full circle moment from when I was an intern here. I’m excited to have the opportunity to work in a community centered space and to get to connect with not only the Light Work members, but also the University students.”
