Skate4Drew: a video screening celebrating the life of Andrew Grabowski
Sunday | September 25 | 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

The Everson Museum is known by most people for its unique contemporary art exhibits, but to the skateboarding community, the Everson has taken on a much different meaning. Skateboarders from all over the world and of all different skill levels come to utilize the unique architecture of the Everson Museum’s plaza, located at the back of the museum.

One of these skateboarders was Andrew Grabowski, a local professional skateboarder who unfortunately passed away this June. The Everson was a second home to Andrew, and skateboarding footage of Andrew can be found as early as the late 90s and as recently as June of 2022. Skate4Drew organizers invite you to Ormond Spencer Skatepark for a pre-screening contest, fundraiser, and procession/group skate down to the Everson Museum of Art to celebrate the life of Andrew.

Join us as we celebrate Andrew Grabowski’s life with a video project filmed at the Everson Museum and the Syracuse, NY area.

The Everson Museum will not be held responsible for skateboarding-related injuries that occur on the property.

Refocus: Haudenosaunee Films to Celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day
Monday | October 10 | 7:00 p.m.

Light Work’s Urban Video Project (UVP) will host Refocus: Haudenosaunee Films to Celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day in partnership with Women of Italian and Syracuse Heritage in Central New York (WISH CNY) and Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation (NOON) and by Resilient Indigenous Action Collective with guests Black Artist Collective CNY. The one-night screening celebrates Haudenosaunee culture and highlights the diversity and significance of films made by Indigenous artists.

The program will begin at 7:00 with speakers and Haudenosaunee vendors on the plaza. Films will run from 8:30-9:30 p.m. The program play on a loop at UVP’s outdoor architectural projection site on the facade of the Everson Museum of Art at 401 Harrison Street.
