Pat Garcia Jr. is a Chicano artist, born and raised in Bakersfield, California, and currently based in New Haven, CT. His work blends traditional, alternative, and experimental photographic techniques, leveraging his materials to explore themes of cultural authenticity as they intersect with his introspections on his body and experiences as a queer Latine individual. He earned his BFA from Humboldt State University in Northern California and his MFA in photography from the Yale School of Art. Garcia has been awarded a School of Art Endowment Fund for Financial Aid, a Brooks and Suzanne Ragen Family Foundation scholarship, and a Richard Benson Award for Excellence in Photography. His work has been exhibited at Artspace New Haven, Morris Graves Museum of Art, Redwood Gallery, Webber (Los Angeles), and Anonymous Gallery (New York).
