Aria Shahrokhshahi is a British-Iranian photographer and filmmaker who lives in the UK. Documentary at its core, Shahrokhshahi’s work also incorporates multimedia and focuses on a variety of diverse communities and the way people interact inside them. Relationships, power dynamics, social structures and, more broadly, the human condition, fascinate Shahrokhshahi. Photography offers him a window of understanding into these communities and a way for him to explore the world around him. His fervor for exploration and greater understanding has led to projects across the globe, from Gambia to Iran to Ukraine and the UK. Shahrokhshahi is currently working on a long-form project in Ukraine, where he has been visiting and volunteering since 2019, working with children and rebuilding houses.
